Van Rooyen and Fitzpatrick Join Team Troon

Scottsdale, Arizona, United States: England’s Alex Fitzpatrick and South African Erik van Rooyen have been welcomed to Team Troon – a collection of top international golf talent representing the Troon brand throughout professional golf.

Fitzpatrick, the younger brother of fellow Team Troon member and 2022 US Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick, is currently competing on the DP World Tour and is ranked 137th on the Official World Golf Ranking.

The 22-year-old from Sheffield has three top-20 finishes in five events this season on the DP World Tour, including a tie for 19th at the Magical Kenya Open in February. In his Major championship debut at The 151st Open Championship at Royal Liverpool, Fitzpatrick finished tied 17th.

Fitzpatrick said: “I am thrilled to be joining Team Troon and representing the leader in golf club management via Troon Golf, Troon Privé and the like, as I compete around the world.

“It is always amazing to experience the quality reach of Troon-managed properties across all corners of the globe; they truly are the best of the best.”

Hailing from Johannesburg, van Rooyen is enjoying a stellar year on the PGA Tour with two top-10 finishes, and six top-25 finishes in nine events played, including a tied second at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches played at Troon-managed PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

The 34-year-old has two career wins on the PGA Tour, the 2021 Barracuda Championship and the 2023 World Wide Technology Championship.

Van Rooyen said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be partnering with Troon. Representing such a forward-thinking golf organisation, which manages several of my favourite PGA Tour stops fills me with immense pride.

“Joining forces with this remarkable team marks the beginning of what promises to be an exciting and enduring partnership.”

The additions of Fitzpatrick and van Rooyen adds to an impressive array of golfers representing Troon across multiple professional Tours.

Last October, Troon welcomed LPGA Tour rookie and Italian golf sensation Benedetta Moresco to Team Troon. Other Team Troon members on the PGA Tour include Justin Thomas, Gary Woodland, Matt Kuchar, Matt Fitzpatrick and Alex Noren.

World Golf Hall of Famer Colin Montgomerie represents Troon on the PGA Tour Champions and Cheyenne Woods is a company ambassador on the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour.

The Troon logo has a presence on each golfer’s golf bag, while Woods, Moresco, Montgomerie and Matt Fitzpatrick carry full Troon-branded golf bags.

“We’re proud to welcome Alex and Erik to Team Troon,” said Tim Schantz, President and CEO at Troon, an Executive Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.

“With 20-plus professional events held at Troon-affiliated facilities, along with many other amazing clubs, resorts and destinations around the world, our synergistic alignment with the members of Team Troon will continue to help share our passion for growing the game,” added Schantz.
