Hong Kong SAR, China: Indian Sandeep Sandhu raced to victory at the Hong Kong Seniors Open Amateur Championship, carding an accomplished three-under-par final-round 67 to win in emphatic style.

The scratch player found the New Course at the Hong Kong Golf Club (HKGC) much to his liking as he coasted to a 12-shot victory, finishing on level-par 210.

Ian Clarke of the United Kingdom edged HKGC member Doug Williams on a countback to claim second place.

Sandhu featured strongly at last month’s Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation Senior Championships in Vietnam, entering the final round there in second place and eventually finishing in a share of sixth spot.

Sandhu, a former captain at the Chandigarh Golf Club, said: “Coming to play in Hong Kong has been a really great experience for all of us Indian golfers who made the trip, so expect to see us again soon!”

It was an extremely closely fought contest in the Ladies championship, with three shots covering the top three players.

Christine Kwok’s three-day total of 248 was enough to pip Cathy Chung (249) in second place, with Andrea Louey (250) in third.

Hong Kong Golf Club is a Facility member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
