Singapore: Robert Maxfield, Chief Executive of The Professional Golfers’ Association of Great Britain and Ireland (PGA of GB&I), has lauded his organisation’s relationship with the Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF).
An Executive Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation, The PGA of GB&I is one of golf’s most prominent bodies and is committed to growing and developing the game in the United Kingdom and internationally through the expertise of its professionals.
“We’re honoured and delighted to be a member of the AGIF,” said Maxfield speaking during the latest webinar in the Federation’s Sustainability Series.
Maxfield, who is now in his 15th year with the PGA, the last four of which have been as Chief Executive, said the launching of a PGA Conferences at Laguna Phuket in Thailand in 2017 was one of the catalysts for aligning with the AGIF.
He said: “We became a partner of the AGIF three years ago. I’m a great believer in that if you’re going to go and work somewhere in the world, you have to have the right partner and the right people on the ground. I learned that many years ago.
“We have a commitment not just to grow the game in Great Britain and Ireland, but also support our partners around the world. That’s where this great relationship that we have with the AGIF is so important to us and many of our members working overseas.
“The AGIF has been such a great partner to The PGA of GB&I, in particular with Matthew Davies (Regional Manager – International) and the support you’ve provided, the education you’ve provided.
“I know the AGIF does a wonderful job with further education. That’s one of the reasons we wanted to connect. The education that the AGIF supplies in greenkeeping and facility management is second to none.
“So, congratulations to the AGIF for all that you do because you do such a wonderful job.
“We’re honoured to be a partner and a member. We want to work a lot closer with the AGIF when we can meet face-to-face.”
