Ponte Vedra Beach, United States: An amazing year was capped off last weekend as Titleist Brand Ambassador Jordan Spieth put together another stellar performance for the final act of the 2014-15 PGA Tour season as he went on to claim the Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup title.
With challenging conditions on an unrelenting layout, Spieth maintained his focus and once again put on a short game clinic to propel him up the leaderboard and ultimately secure the top spot.
“My short game was phenomenal this week. We worked a lot on it from Monday morning out here on this Bermuda, getting ready for any kind of position,” said Spieth, winner of the US Masters and US Open in 2015.
“And some of the up-and-downs we had at the end of the day on 15 and 16, were just ones that – in that position it makes it even harder.”
Spieth was also dialled-in on the greens as he led the field in Strokes-Gained Putting (7.036) and made the clutch putts when it mattered most.
Case in point, the par-four 11th hole where he rolled in a 45-footer for birdie to maintain a two-shot lead over the field.
The solid play continued down the stretch for Spieth as he reeled off seven consecutive pars to safeguard his lead.
As for how Spieth felt making his way to the 72nd green, knowing he was on the verge of capturing the season finale and his fifth win of the year, he said: “It was incredible. The walk up 18 was nice.”
