Singapore: With the adoption as Ambassador by Tanah Merah Country Club (TMCC), national golfer Inez Ng is journeying into the next phase of her golfing career.

She said: “It is a huge honour, and I’m extremely grateful to TMCC for believing in me and supporting my golfing journey.

“At this stage of my career, I’m looking ahead to the next chapter of my golf and continuing to see how far I can take my game, so having the support and facilities at TMCC means a lot.”

The honour comes at an appropriate time for the 23-year-old who is looking to one leap of faith into global stardom.

A graduate of the Singapore Sports School, Ng continued her development at the University of North Carolina (UNC) where she enjoyed a breakthrough collegiate season in 2024.

She clinched her maiden collegiate individual title at the Cavalier Regional Preview, winning by eight strokes with a 12-under 201 total that set a new UNC 54-hole scoring record.

Ng, who also helped UNC claim the team championship by 18 strokes, is a full-time golfer who hopes to turn professional soon.

She has represented Singapore on the international stage, including competing at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games and the World Amateur Team Championships, where she finished tied-fourth individually in the Espirito Santo Trophy in 2023.

With access to quality golf facilities becoming increasingly limited, a programme like the TMCC’s Ambassador Adoption Scheme can make a huge difference, giving a golfer the environment they need to train and improve.

Ng sees the ambassador role as an opportunity to represent the club well, contribute to the community and hopefully give back to the game that has given her so much.

She said: “I would love to use this opportunity to be someone younger female golfers can look up to and also feel comfortable approaching.

“Seeing other Singaporean women competing internationally and pursuing golf at a high level can help young girls realise that those opportunities are possible for them, too.

“Whether their goal is to play college golf, represent Singapore or eventually turn professional, I hope sharing the experiences with the younger players would be a very beneficial to them in their aspirations to turn hopes into dreams.”
