Singapore: Tanah Merah Country Club’s (TMCC) Garden Course staged the inaugural Golf for Good 2025, with former national golfers coming together to raise funds in support of Impart, a charity empowering youth facing adversities.

Part of the SG60 Celebrations, the Golf for Good 2025 initiative raised S$250,000, which will go towards Impart’s mission of empowering youths facing adversity through a combination of mentorship, educational support, and communities of care – enabling them to build resilience, develop life skills, and chart pathways toward a hopeful future.

This fund-raiser is the result of a spark among a group of former national golfers wanting to give back to the community, and marks the first milestone for the newly formed National Golfers Alumni, which is supported by the Singapore Golf Association (SGA) Athletes’ Commission. 

“Golf for Good 2025 embodies the contributions and shared desire of former national golfers to bring the golfing community together and do good through and to golf. This fund-raiser was made possible through the support of all donors, sponsors and team-mates, and we would like to sincerely thank everyone for bringing this event to life,” said George Foo, member of the Alumni organising team and Chairman of the SGA Athletes’ Commission.

“As a small charity with a dedicated, hands-on team, we face unique challenges in fund-raising. The founders often wear multiple hats, including that of fund-raiser, to ensure we deliver impactful work directly on the ground while managing our limited time and resources. The incredible generosity demonstrated with S$250,000 raised, reflects the strong support for Impart – almost like an extended family.

The announcement of the Garden Course lease expiry in 2035 further instilled the desire to showcase the positive impact that golf creates for the wider community, and the club’s commitment to be a force for good, especially at an iconic venue where many of the former national golfers were given the opportunity to practice, train and compete.

Tanah Merah Country Club has always believed that golf is more than a sport. It is a powerful force for positive change. This event exemplifies how golf can unite people and communities to champion meaningful causes and make a lasting impact.

“We have actively engaged with schools and community groups to provide greater opportunities for youth to experience and learn golf at our facilities. We look forward to continuing our support for Impart, helping their youths learn and grow in the sport.”

As part of the day’s programme, an introduction-to-golf clinic was conducted for youths supported by Impart, offering participants an engaging first experience with the sport in an encouraging, inclusive environment.

“It was a privilege to have an exposure to golf at the Golf for Good event. This training opened doors for me to try something new, just as how Impart helped me emerge from my reclusive state post-Covid by providing opportunities like learning callisthenics. Just like in the golf session, where I learned to focus on my practice, Impart has guided me in my education and in pursuing my larger goals for the future,” reflected Joshua, a 16-year-old from Impart.
