Sarawak, Borneo, Malaysia: Kelab Golf Sarawak (KGS), one of Malaysia’s most historic golf clubs, is gearing up to welcome many of the region’s most talented young golfers to its venue next month.

For the fourth year in succession, the club, nestled near Kuching City in the heart of Sarawak, on the island of Borneo, will host the KGS Junior Open Golf Championship 2025 – YBhg Datin Patinggi Lorna Chan Trophy.

“Our aim is to continue growing this championship into a premier platform where young golfers can compete, learn, and connect across borders,” said Terence Lee Yeow Kong, General Manager at KGS.

To be held over the Matang and Santubong courses from September 12-14, the tournament will be contested in four age-group categories for both boys and girls – Group A (16-18 years), Group B (13-15 years), Group C (11-12 years) and Group D (10 and under).

As in previous years, organisers are anticipating strong representations from Singapore and Thailand to compete against the foremost Malaysian juniors.

Opened in 1983 and upgraded in 1990, the Matang/Santubong course is named after Sarawak’s prominent geographical landmarks, the two famous mountain ranges – Santubong and Matang, some 25 kilometres from the club.

Featuring breathtaking scenery and world-class amenities, KGS boasts four nine-hole layouts. The distinctive, pyramid-shaped clubhouse stands as a grand centrepiece, dividing the Matang/Santubong 18 to the south and the Siol/Demak 18 to the north.
