Celebrating Spirit of Giving at SICC

SICC May Day1

Singapore: May 1 will mark the latest edition of The Singapore Island Country Club’s (SICC) annual flagship philanthropic event, the SICC May Day Charity 2025.

As a long-standing tradition at SICC, this initiative is dedicated to making a lasting impact on the community by uplifting under-privileged individuals and strengthening local organisations through generous donations and dedicated volunteerism.

Since its inception in 1972, the President of Singapore has served as Patron of the SICC May Day Charity, highlighting the club’s enduring commitment to social responsibility.

Over the decades, this annual event has become a beacon of compassion, raising over S$27 million, supporting more than 100 charitable organisations, and making a profound and lasting impact on Singapore’s social service landscape.

In 2025, the event will continue this legacy, uniting corporate partners, club members, and the wider community to celebrate the spirit of giving and to drive meaningful social change.

For decades, the SICC May Day Charity has played a pivotal role in addressing societal needs, ensuring that financial assistance reaches those who need it most. Last year’s event raised S$1.63 million for various charities, benefiting 10 organisations. This year, SICC aims to exceed previous fund-raising milestones and broaden its impact.

Guests-of-Honour this year will be Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong and his wife.

A key highlight of this year’s event will be the prestigious Gala Dinner at the Island Grand Ballroom, bringing together esteemed guests, donors, and partners in a celebration of generosity and collective impact.

The evening will be hosted by Kelly Latimer, serving as the Master of Ceremonies. Guests will also be treated to performances by the Dyslexia Association of Singapore, a vocal repertoire by Lyla Ng, and a captivating cello performance by James Widjaja.

This year’s SICC May Day Charity will feature a variety of fund-raising activities, including charity golf tournaments and interactive fringe activities designed to bring people together in support of a meaningful cause.

These initiatives not only generate essential funds but also build stronger bonds across different segments of society, fostering a culture of compassion and civic engagement.

Funds raised from this year’s SICC May Day Charity will support 10 deserving organisations, each dedicated to making a meaningful difference in society: Singapore Hospice Council; Caregiving Welfare Association; SUN-DAC; ARTDIS (Singapore) Ltd; RSVP Singapore; Reach Community Services; Singapore Association of Women’s Lawyers; Blossoms Seeds Limited; Ambulance Wish Singapore; Seventy Times Seven (Prison Fellowship Singapore).

How Seen Yong, Organising Chairman of the May Day Charity 2025, said: “This event is more than just a tradition – it is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together to serve others. The impact we create goes far beyond the dollars raised; it’s about transforming lives, restoring hope, and inspiring future generations to give back.”

Ian Roberts, SICC’s General Manager, added: “At the heart of the SICC May Day Charity is our community. We are proud to mobilise the club’s resources and partnerships to support organisations doing exceptional work on the ground. This year, we are expanding our outreach and amplifying our message – that everyone can make a difference.”
