Brisbane, Australia: Less than a month after relinquishing his post as LIV Golf’s Chief Executive Officer and Commissioner, Greg Norman has landed a new job back in his native Australia.
The two-time Open Championship winner has joined the organising committee planning Brisbane’s hosting of the 2032 Olympic Games.
The former world number one golfer-turned-sports administrator, who turns 70 today, was personally appointed to the new post by Australian Prime Minister Antony Albanese. He is the latest addition to the 24-person Board.
Norman said: “I wish I could wind the clock back four decades and compete in 2032, but as a proud Queenslander it is a privilege to be able to help shape the Brisbane Games.
“We will prove our credentials as world leaders in events, sport and hospitality at Brisbane 2032, and create an incredible legacy for this state.”
The golf tournament for the 2032 Olympic Games is scheduled to be held at Royal Queensland Golf Club in Brisbane, where Norman worked in the pro shop for a time in his youth.
