Singapore: Sentosa Golf Club has further confirmed its reputation as a global pace-setter in terms of sustainability in golf by agreeing to a new relationship with E-Z-GO and its fleet of zero emission golf buggies.

Sentosa has always had the future of the game in its DNA and this new agreement, which will see 220 of E-Z-GO’s state-of-the-art buggies used across the iconic Serapong and Tanjong courses, is no different.

This collaboration, the result of an official tender process, aims to enhance the golfing experience at Sentosa with cutting-edge technology as well as sustainability at its core.

The fleet of 220 new golf carts are powered by lithium batteries rather than traditional lead-based ones, meaning they produce zero harmful emissions, generate 95% less harmful waste than lead, are 15% more efficient than the next-best lithium competitor, and have a longer lifespan.

They also come equipped with several unique features, including the IntelliBrake automatic parking brake for improved safety, regenerative braking for efficiency and control, and a wrap-around bumper that provides superior protection for users.

E-Z-GO vehicles are designed and manufactured by Textron Specialized vehicles Inc, A Textron Inc company.

‘‘Teaming up with E-Z-GO in this way is another great step on our sustainability journey here at Sentosa,” said Andrew Johnson, General Manager and Director of Agronomy at Sentosa Golf Club, a Facility Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.

“Every decision we make about the management of the course has our legacy and the future at its heart, and we believe this is another great way to protect the amazing environment we have here,’’ added Johnston.

Steen Scherff, Director, International Golf for E-Z-GO, said: “We are excited to be able to provide our vehicles to the historical Sentosa Golf Club and help them in achieving the sustainable efforts.

“We pride ourselves in being able to work alongside courses to give them every aspect of what they need in a vehicle to maintain their beauty and provide a superior experience for their guests.”

Sentosa’s sustainability record is a long, distinguished one. Under the umbrella of its GAME ON campaign, it was the first club in Asia to introduce carbon products in the form of Biochar into its agronomy programme to help remove more carbon from the atmosphere.

A state-of-the-art irrigation system and agronomy equipment that creates efficiencies and minimises product wastage created by over-fertilisation and watering are other key pillars of the Sentosa sustainability strategy.
