Calver Takes KLGCC Reins

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Adam Calver has been confirmed as the new General Manager at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC).

A well-respected figure in Asian golfing circles having held senior positions at golf clubs in Dubai, Indonesia and Vietnam, Calver currently serves as Vice President of the Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF).

Calver, who assumed his new post this week, brings with him more than 20 years of experience and a proven track record in golf club management and operations, golf course design and development at several World Top-100 golf courses.

Formerly Chairman of the Vietnam Golf Coast, a destination marketing organisation partnered with Da Nang Tourism, Calver is the Official Representative for Faldo Design, where he works closely with Sir Nick Faldo to design and restore golf clubs and golf developments globally.

In his previous role as Director of Golf & Destination Sales and Marketing at Laguna Lang Co, Banyan Tree Group in Hue, Vietnam, Calver elevated the golf resort to be named as one of the Top 100 Golf Resorts in the World 2023 by Golf World and ‘Vietnam’s Best Golf Course’ by Vietnam Golf Magazine 2019.

Prior to joining Laguna Lang Co Resort, Calver was the Vice President of Golf and Development and Director of Agronomy & Construction at Cabot Links & Cabot Cliffs in Nova Scotia Canada, which debuted as the number one golf course in Canada and 19th in the world by Golf Digest.

Before that, he was Director of Golf & Agronomy at Nirwana Bali Golf Club, Pan Pacific Resort in Indonesia where he achieved the club’s highest world ranking and best financial performance.

Calver began his career as Assistant Superintendent in golf clubs in Canada before he moved on to Dubai as Golf Course Superintendent overseeing the construction, opening and operations of Jumeirah Golf Estates.

In addition to his extensive professional experience, Calver holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science, Majoring in Golf Course Management & Agronomy from Olds College, Canada.

“We are confident that Adam’s leadership, vision, experience and expertise will contribute significantly in re-designing our golf course, enhancing our club’s hospitality experience and leading the club’s continuous success and growth as a top golf club internationally,” said a statement from the KLGCC.

Established by Sime Darby Property Berhad in 1991, KLGCC is located in Mont Kiara, just eight kilometres from the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

Set across 220,000 square feet, the KLGCC boasts two 18-hole layouts – the West and East courses – which have hosted multiple professional tournaments on the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, Asian Tour and LPGA Tour.
