Singapore: Hong Kong China’s Arianna Lau secured a commanding five-shot victory in the first leg of the EFG Bank China LPGQ Singapore Series, which also served as the qualifier for next month’s Singapore Ladies Masters.
Lau, the reigning Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation Junior Girls champion, fired a final-round of four-under-par 68 over the Laguna National Golf Resort Club’s Masters Course.
Lau, who tied for 12th in February’s sixth edition of the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific, finished atop the leaderboard at Laguna National with a three-round aggregate of 11-under 205.
Thai Arisa Bintachitt and Singapore’s Aloysa Atienza shared second place, posting matching 210s after closing rounds of 71 and 74 respectively.
Their achievements have earned them starting spots alongside Lau in the US$100,000 CLPGA Tour event, which will take place at the same venue from June 14-16.
Meanwhile, the second leg of the Series is tentatively scheduled for August, with dates for the subsequent two events yet to be announced.
The CLPGQ Series is open not only to women professionals and amateurs but also to male amateurs, offering them the chance to earn World Amateur Golf Ranking points.
Participants face a gruelling 36-hole marathon on the first day, with only the top 50 players and ties progressing to the third and final round.
