Singapore: Fostering the growth and development of golf in the ASEAN region is the aim of Tan Chong Huat during his one-year tenure as President of the ASEAN Golf Federation (AGF).
Tan’s appointment as President of the regional body was ratified during the Federation’s annual general meeting at The Mines Golf Resort in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.
Currently, Tan also serves as President of the Singapore Golf Association (SGA), where one of his key objectives is to enhance the golf eco-system in the Island Republic.
With the AGF, Tan said he wants to strengthen the bonds of friendship among member associations, promote the development of golf in the region and key tournaments such as the Southeast Asian Amateur Golf Team Championships.
Tan said: “I am deeply honoured and privileged to take on the role of President of the ASEAN Golf Federation for the upcoming year. As we embark on this journey, my commitment is to foster the growth and development of golf in the ASEAN region.
“Together with fellow member associations, we will work collaboratively to promote key regional tournaments, training events and conferences of international standard, and golf tourism in ASEAN.”
The AGF is made up of the Brunei Golf Association, Cambodia Golf Association, Indonesia Golf Association, Laos Golf Association, Malaysian Golf Association, Myanmar Golf Federation, The National Golf Association of the Philippines, Singapore Golf Association, Thailand Golf Association and Vietnam Golf Association.
