Troy Storm eased to an eight-stroke win in the Singapore Junior Championship.

Singapore: Singapore’s Troy Storm and Hong Kong’s Felicia Hughes underlined their status among the region’s brightest young golfing prospects with standout performances at the Singapore Junior Golf Championship presented by BFG Golf.

While Storm captured both the Boys’ Division ‘A’ title and the Boys’ Overall championship, Hughes was crowned winner of the Girls’ Division ‘A’ and Girls’ Overall titles.

Victory was especially sweet for 17-year-old Storm who had finished runner-up in each of the two previous editions of the championship.

Determined to put the record straight this time, he closed with a stunning nine-under-par 63 to finish on 17-under 199 at Keppel Club, following earlier rounds of 67 and 69 in the 54-hole stroke play championship. Australian Jackson Leonard emerged runner-up after a closing 68, leaving him eight shots behind Storm.

“After finishing runner-up the last two years, it feels really good to finally win this. I just wanted to stay focused on my own game, and the final round 63 gave me the momentum I needed to finish strong and get it done here at home,” said Storm whose success has secured him an invitation to compete in the 2027 Singapore Open.

Murray Smit, Singapore Golf Association (SGA) National Coach, said: “We are extremely proud of Troy’s performance this week. He strung three fantastic rounds together.

“It is a big win for Singapore golf. It was fantastic to see Chen Xingtong win the Girls’ title last year, and we were confident heading into this week that we could replicate that on the boys’ side.

“We’re very excited about the future for Troy. There’s no doubt he can become one of the best juniors and then collegiate golfers in the world.”

Felicia Hughes Sing Junior
Hong Kong’s Felicia Hughes won the Girls’ Division ‘A’ and Girls’ Overall titles.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old Hughes produced a composed performance throughout the week, signing off with a 70 to finish two shots clear of Thailand’s Wirada Tawinsang and add the Singapore title to her growing list of achievements on the regional junior circuit.

Hughes, who made an impressive debut for Hong Kong , China in last month’s Queen Sirikit Cup in Indonesia, said: “This win means a lot to me. I’ve had so much support over the past few years, and especially over the last few months. We’ve really dialled in the work, and it’s great to see it paying off. I’m grateful to have such a wonderful team behind me and I’m really excited about what comes next.”

Korean Jane Sim secured the Girls’ Division ‘B’ title with a three-round total of 219, while Singapore’s Temperance Tan finished runner-up after rounds of 68, 82 and 78.

In the Boys’ Division ‘B’ competition, Indian Zorawar Sandhu held his nerve to secure a one-shot victory after closing with a 73. His three-day total of 223 was enough to edge China’s Chen Lixuan and claim the title.

In the team competition, Singapore and Thailand emerged as the respective champions with their gross total of 278 and 286 for the Boys’ and Girls’ Division.

For the first time in the tournament’s history, prize money was awarded to the individual boys’ and girls’ champions, as well as the winning teams, as part of on-going efforts to support junior player development and strengthen pathways for aspiring young golfers.
