SICC Signs with R&A Women in Golf Charter

Singapore: The Singapore Island Country Club (SICC) has signed up to The R&A’s Women in Golf Charter.

In the wake of the successful staging of the fifth Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific at the club’s New Course last week, the SICC has committed to continuing its support of women’s golf.

A statement released by Club Captain Ivan Chua and Lady Captain Chia Siang Pio said that working with The R&A, Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation and the Singapore Golf Association, SICC is committed to and pledges its support to the Women in Golf Charter through:

   • Increasing the number of women members into various committee roles;

   • Increasing women’s involvement within high-level tournaments to create awareness of the requirements of these tournaments;

   • Hosting high-profile tournaments for women and girls or mixed events;

   • Increasing the number of women working in our golf department;

   • Inspire more junior girls to learn the game of golf and enter our junior golf development programme, developing their golfing skills and an all-round attitude; and

   • Increasing women coaches into our teaching team to teach female Members.

Formed in 1963, the SICC features three best-in-class golf courses totalling 63 holes, a wide variety of F&B outlets, sports, social and leisure facilities across two locations in central Singapore.

The club’s rich history has seen several international golf events and golf legends hosted on its championship golf courses.

The cub supports Singapore Sports Vision 2030 which aims to build partnerships among the various stakeholders in Singapore sports, aid the development of talented athletes and help them compete on the world stage.

The SICC is a Facility Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
