Costa Navarino, Greece: Troon has extended its partnership with Costa Navarino, the prime, sustainable destination in the Greek region of Messinia, in southwest Peloponnese.
Troon, through its Troon International division, has been engaged at The Bay and The Dunes courses since inception and will now provide agronomy, operations and marketing support to the two new additions – The Hills Course and The International Olympic Academy Golf Course.
This year has seen Costa Navarino continue to increase its profile as an established golf destination in the Mediterranean by offering a world-class golf experience on its now four courses. Each course bears the signature of a world-renowned designer and offers a unique combination of challenges and rewards for golfers of all levels.
“I am delighted that we are extending our partnership with the wonderful Costa Navarino team,” said DJ Flanders, Senior Vice President at Troon International, an Executive Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
He added: “By deepening our alliance, we will be able to assist the team with the very best standards in the golf business and continue delivering a top quality golfing product for both Greek and international golfers to experience.
“These four golf courses will enhance Costa Navarino’s overall asset base and we are excited to be part of the Costa Navarino journey.”
The world’s first International Olympic Academy Golf Course and the neighbouring Hills Course, as well as the new Hills Clubhouse, made their debut at the start of the 2022 golf season.
These two new courses complement the destination’s existing layouts, The Dunes Course and The Bay Course, and mean that golfers can now enjoy the challenge of four signature golf courses, all within a 13-kilometre distance.
Both new courses, as well as The Dunes Course, will soon welcome the first Aegean Messinia Pro-Am, the most important tournament in the destination’s golfing calendar which has been established by AEGEAN Airlines and Costa Navarino.
Designed by two-time Masters champion José María Olazábal, the two courses are situated over 125 hectares at the destination’s newest area, Navarino Hills. The new layouts are set in a unique location affording views to the mountains and valleys, overlooking the historic Bay of Navarino and the Ionian Sea.
The International Olympic Academy Golf Course measures 6,366 metres and The Hills Course is slightly shorter at 6,280 metres. Both courses feature an average green size of 669 sqaure metres, a 60-bay driving range and a 15,000 square metre short game area.
Nuno Sepúlveda, General Manager at Costa Navarino Golf, said: “The Hills Course and The International Olympic Academy Golf Course are both outstanding golf courses situated within Europe’s newest golf destination. We are looking forward to further developing our guest experience at both courses and with Troon’s renowned level of service, operations and agronomy standards, the expansion of our partnership is a very exciting milestone.”
In addition to the golf offering, international visitors can enjoy Navarino Dunes, the destination’s first resort area, which welcomes guests at its two five-star hotels, The Westin Resort Costa Navarino and The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort, offering an abundance of gastronomy venues, sports, outdoor, leisure and cultural activities.
There is also the new W Costa Navarino, making its debut this summer. Located in Navarino Waterfront, the newest integrated resort of Costa Navarino, the 13-hectare beachfront destination will feature 246 rooms, suites, and villas, many with private pools, staged in the Bay of Navarino with stunning Ionian Sea views. The vibrant resort will offer five dining venues including a destination beach club and exciting day to night programming.
