Waddinxveen, The Netherlands: SGL, global experts in grass management and a market leader in grow lighting systems to golf courses and professional sports stadia, has joined the Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF).
With the tagline ‘For the love of grass’, SGL has enjoyed success in more than 400 projects spanning 52 countries and eight sports, including golf, football and horse racing.
Danial Bridges, SGL’s Area Manager, Asia Pacific, said: “The increased activity on golf courses in the past years combined with the usual challenges of shade, disease pressure and climate conditions can make the life of a greenskeeper or turf manager harder.”
Currently, a range of SGL solutions are used by various golf courses around the world to specifically tackle those challenges.
One of the essentials are grass grow lighting systems that aid grass growth and recovery in shaded and high traffic areas.
Additions to the SGL product line that are suited to the golf industry and the advancement of LED in recent years allow greater flexibility to turf managers, especially in challenging climates like Southeast Asia.
Bridges said: “Our BU lighting range has been adopted in countries such as England, Spain, USA, Japan and Australia with great success. It is designed to be a simple and affordable solution to managing shade and high traffic areas of greens and tees.
“Our LED product line is very exciting with recent developments providing great options for those stadiums in tropical climates. The ability to separate light and heat gives the flexibility to remove unnecessary heat for a healthy growing climate and also results in operational cost benefits.”
As well as grow lights, SGL’s product portfolio includes advanced solutions in pitch/turf monitoring, with an online portal that includes a site-specific disease forecast.
Bridges said: “Data is a turf manager’s best friend and our monitoring tools are versatile to meet all needs. Live data 24/7 and data analysis can assist the turf manager to make informed and timely decisions.”
Together with grow lights and monitoring tools, SGL boasts a range of sustainable grass care tools, including fans, turf coolers and a disease prevention machine. The SGL Grass Care range can help reduce turfgrass stress and disease pressure in an environmentally friendly manner.
Richard Walne, the AGIF’s President, said: “We’re pleased to welcome SGL as a Full Business Member of the Federation and we look forward to their participation in our forthcoming turfgrass events.”
