Bangkok, Thailand: Golfasian, Thailand’s largest inbound golf tour operator, is stepping up its efforts to bring more Danish golfers to the Kingdom.
The Bangkok-based company is the event sponsor for the Thailand golf activities of the 2021 ‘Race to Thailand’ tournament series presented by GolfersGlobe, Denmark’s leading golf travel portal.
The tournament series is being held in conjunction with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Thai Airways, Golf Experten and ClassicGolf.
“Our Golfasian team saw the Race to Thailand series take-off in 2019 and the attention it brought to golfing in Thailand,” said Mark Siegel, Managing Director at Golfasian, a Full Business Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
“Promoting golf in Thailand has always been the core of our business so supporting the series is a natural continuation of that,” he added.
The 14-tournament series, hosted at 14 golf courses in Denmark this summer, will include more than 1,000 competitors vying for the chance to win the grand prize trip to play in Chiang Mai in November.
From each tournament round the top teams will qualify for Denmark’s national final. Every round includes prizes for golf holidays and golf equipment, but the ultimate prize is travelling to Thailand on Thai Airways and playing golf in the kingdom, sponsored by Golfasian.
The champion teams will battle at Chiang Mai Highlands and Alpine Chiang Mai, courtesy of Golfasian.
The Race to Thailand series also contains a charitable aspect as the golfers involved donate to Thailand’s rural hospitals. In collaboration with the Danish ‘Project Daseringe’, money from the events will be collected for a prosthetic limbs hospital in northern Thailand which makes artificial limbs for the poor.
Money raised will go towards a vehicle so that a mobile hospital can be set up, allowing doctors to visit remote locations in the countryside.
Importantly, the summer tournament series, continues to feature Thailand as a potential holiday destination to Danish golfers.
Travel and tourism and the golf industry in Thailand is in need of re-establishing itself as the world recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic.
In addition to supporting events like the Race to Thailand, the coming months will see Golfasian relaunch its Golf in a Kingdom programme, promoting Thailand as a golf destination worldwide.
