EcoBunker Makes a Splash with AGIF

Cardiff, Wales: EcoBunker, a company specialising in innovative golf bunker restoration, renovation and construction, has joined the Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF).

EcoBunker Ltd Founder, Inventor and CEO is Richard Allen, a civil engineer with 32 years of experience providing innovative design solutions to a wide range of clients, including many in the golf industry.

Since forming EcoBunker Ltd in 2014, Allen and his team have provided low maintenance and cost-effective bunker and lake edge solutions to nearly 300 golf courses in 33 countries.

Allen said: “In 2006, from personal experience of a bunker renovation project, I became aware that there were no custom designed bunker edge products on the market. My response was to design a solution using sand impregnated polypropylene tiles, that could be stacked, giving an appearance very similar to traditional bunker revetting, or sod walls.

“Unlike traditional methods, the EcoBunker system is highly resilient and offers long warranties. The method was deemed to be novel and inventive, and now benefits from numerous International Patents and Design Registrations.

“We now employ a diverse team of professionals with a wide range of skills, advising and helping golf courses to have better, attractive and consistent bunkers which are long lasting and easy to maintain.”

Darren Clewes, Sales Manager at EcoBunker, said: ‘‘I joined EcoBunker Ltd to manage the rapidly increasing sales workload, and give strong support to our Distribution and Reseller Network. I have enjoyed every minute of it.

“At a time when the industry is increasing its focus on sustainability and the cost of bunker maintenance, we have seen how EcoBunker solutions have revolutionised the performance of golf bunkers in tropical and sub-tropical zones.”

EcoBunker Ltd has numerous high-profile projects now underway in Asia, including Faldo Design projects in Pakistan and Vietnam, as well as Amata Spring and Lakeside in Thailand, and Singapore Island Country Club.

Also underway are numerous projects in South Korea (through distributor World Best Sand), notably the PGA Tour venue at Jeju Island, Nine Bridges.

Just on the horizon is a spectacular bunker renovation project at Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club in Hong Kong, through EcoBunker distributor Centaur Asia Pacific, a Full Business Member of the AGIF.

Eric Lynge, the AGIF’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “We welcome EcoBunker Ltd as an Associate Business Member of the Federation.

“EcoBunker Ltd already has a strong presence in the region and we look forward to their active participation in our forthcoming digital events and at our field days, when they’re able to resume.”
