Dak Doa Commune, Gia Lai Province, Vietnam: Flagstick Golf Course Construction Management (Flagstick GCCM) is currently overseeing the golf course construction and implementation works for the new FLC Golf Club Pleiku.
The project is expected to become one of the major golf and resort destinations in Vietnam’s Central Highlands, combining golf facilities with the region’s natural pine forest landscape and highland climate.
The golf course complex is being master-planned and designed by internationally renowned golf course architect Brian Curley. The development will eventually feature 36 holes routed through pine forest areas and rolling highland terrain near Pleiku in Gia Lai Province.
Construction of the first 18 holes officially commenced last month with rough shaping works on numerous golf holes already substantially completed and several areas preparing to move into the grassing phase.
A major focus throughout both the design and construction process has been in preserving the site’s existing pine forest landscape while minimising disruption to the natural terrain. The golf course routing has been refined to maximise the preservation of existing pine trees while still maintaining international golf course design standards and long-term operational functionality.
Flagstick is responsible for golf course construction management, construction co-ordination, golf course shaping works, drainage/irrigation co-ordination and supervision, quality control, scheduling, budgeting, and overall implementation for the project.
The project will utilise premium turfgrass varieties provided by Sports Turf Solutions (STS), including Lynkz Zoysia for the putting greens together with Zeon Zoysia for the fairways, tees, and rough areas. These turfgrass selections were chosen for their long-term conditioning quality, and sustainability for the environmental conditions of Vietnam’s Central Highlands region.
According to project representatives, the cool year-round climate of Pleiku together with the site’s pine forest setting are expected to create a distinctive golf experience within Vietnam and the broader Asia-Pacific golf market.
