Recharging Domestic Golf Tourism on Vietnam’s Central Coast

Da Nang, Vietnam: Members of the Vietnam Golf Coast (VGC) are pulling together in attempts to recharge domestic golf tourism in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Established in 2019, VGC is a destination marketing organisation dedicated to the growth of golf tourism in Central Vietnam, extending from the city of Da Nang to the foothills of Hue and the shores of Hoi An.

Comprising Laguna Golf Lang Co, Ba Na Hills Golf Club, Montgomerie Links, BRG Da Nang Golf Resort, BRG Da Nang Nicklaus Course, Vinpearl Golf Nam Hoi An, and Hoiana Shores Golf Club, members of Vietnam Golf Coast aim to promote the country’s Central Coast as a world-class destination for golf and culture, create jobs within local communities, and raise the standard of golf within Vietnam.

“With all golf courses re-opened for play in September, the Vietnam Golf Coast is working closely with the local tourism authorities to regain the momentum we had growing the domestic golf markets in June and July,” said Adam Calver, Chairman of VGC and Director of Golf at Laguna Lang Co.

He added: “At Laguna Lang Co we were actually experiencing growth on last year’s rounds before the Da Nang lockdown in July. The domestic growth we have seen is a testament to the quality of golf in the region. The Vietnam Golf Coast is on everyone’s ‘must play’ list and the domestic market had taken advantage of the reduced cost of flights.

“All of us at Vietnam Golf Coast are working together to recharge domestic golf tourism. We are positive that Vietnam’s ability to react swiftly and contain outbreaks has proven a strong advantage for generating international interest in 2021 and we feel we will see a strong recovery for our region.

“With two new 18-hole courses opening in 2020, the Vietnam Golf Coast is even better than it was a year ago. Hoiana Shores Golf Club is truly spectacular and our first true tropical links design for the group.

“Meanwhile, the new BRG Nicklaus design, with water in play on numerous holes and fully floodlit for night golf, is BRG’s latest addition to the destination and offers yet another unique experience unlike any other course in the region.”
