Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Asian Golf Industry Federation Golf Course Facility Members stole the spotlight at the third edition of the ParGolf People’s Choice Awards.
Kota Permai Golf & Country Club, TPC Kuala Lumpur and The Els Club Teluk Datai were among the big winners as Malaysia’s leading golf clubs celebrated at a presentation ceremony at the Carlsberg Brewery.
Based on online voting by the public from January 15 to March 10, the ParGolf People’s Choice Awards recognises the top three clubs in a total of 12 categories.
Kota Permai was feted on seven occasions – Best Championship Layout; Best Greens; Best Maintained Golf Course; Best Corporate Tournament Venue; Best Customer Service; Best F&B – Golfers’ Terrace; Best F&B – Halfway Hut.
TPC Kuala Lumpur received six accolades – Best Championship Layout (West Course); Most Challenging Course (West Course); Best Corporate Tournament Venue; Best Clubhouse; Best Customer Service; Best F&B – Golfers’ Terrace.
Meanwhile, The Els Club Teluk Datai picked up an award as Most Scenic Golf Course.
“Once again, we are proud to recognise excellence in the golf industry through the ParGolf People’s Choice Awards,” said ParGolf Publisher Suzannah Gun Palmer.
“We hope that the award winners will continue to forge the way for the Malaysian golf course fraternity, while those who did not win anything will strive to improve their products and services to attract more votes in the next edition.
“We congratulate the winning clubs and thank all those who voted during the balloting period. Of course, our utmost appreciation goes out to event partners Carlsberg and Srixon Sports Asia, who have helped make the ParGolf People’s Choice Awards one of the most eagerly-anticipated fixtures on the Malaysian golfing calendar.”
Close to 100 representatives of the recipient clubs and invited guests attended the presentation, which started with a tour of the Carlsberg Brewery. Also present were the winners of a voter’s contest, who received prizes from Srixon and Cleveland.
Jonathan Ponniah, ParGolf’s Managing Editor, said: “We started the ParGolf People’s Choice Awards solely for the golf course industry as an off-shoot of the industry-wide Malaysian Golf Awards.
“As the 2018 results show, our conviction that the best judge of a golf course is the end-user himself, the golfer, has been validated again.”
