Nikanti, in the ancient Theravada Buddhist language of Pali, means “Attachment to the State of Delightfulness”. Situated in the stunning naturescape of Nakhon Pathom, a mere hour’s drive West of downtown Bangkok, the delightful Nikanti Golf Club offers Thailand’s most unique and memorable golf and leisure experience. Guests experience just such a realm of pure delight and pleasure where the concept is embraced at every single turn.

Continually striving to enhance the guest experience, Nikanti will be undertaking several major projects over the next 2 years, including tee resurfacing, bunker reconstruction, greens resurfacing, construction of a 19th hole and minor irrigation upgrade projects. The Club offers a great opportunity for a dynamic turfgrass professional to take on this important role and be an integral part of our senior management team, reporting directly to the Director of GCM.

Role:

Under the direction of the Director of GCM, the Golf Course Superintendent is entrusted with overseeing the golf course maintenance operation and management, workshop and machinery maintenance, landscape (including clubhouse, entrance, and driveway landscape) and all related locations, facilities and associated inventories.

 Job Accountabilities:

  • Oversees the scheduling and routing of personnel and equipment to ensure tasks and projects are accomplished to the required standard in the most efficient manner.
  • Plans all maintenance and project work, applying agronomic and administrative expertise to adhere to the department’s maintenance standards and long-range goals.
  • Works with the Director of GCM, providing input in the development and ongoing adjustments of all agronomy programs and supervising their implementation to the required standards.
  • Interacts closely with the ownership, senior management team and any such designated consultants to ensure that guest expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Protects and maintains the club’s assets, including the golf course, landscape, irrigation system, maintenance facility, machinery, and equipment.
  • Always ensures safe work practices are being followed as per the SOP and OHS standards.
  • Will ensure that any impact on the environment and local habitats is minimized or eliminated when planning and executing any project works or agronomy programs.
  • Participates in all aspects of planning involving golf course and related operations.
  • Ensures that a positive and healthy working environment exists throughout the department, one that is free of safety risks and all forms of employee harassment.
  • Assists with the preparation of annual departmental operating and capital budget forecasts.
  • Will, to the best of their abilities, adhere to operational and capital expenditure budgets when carrying out maintenance and project work on the property.
  • Coordinates the activities of outside entities such as contractors, consultants, service personnel and sales representatives.
  • Rendering of professional advice, opinions, assistance and services to the facility ownership, senior management team and any such designated consultants as required.
  • Plans and schedules maintenance activities to minimise disruptions to the golfing experience.
  • Monitors the quality of work performed and provides ongoing feedback to the team.

  • Exceptionally strong formal and informal communication skills, both in writing and speaking. Communication with the ownership, senior management team, all Nikanti employees and any such designated consultants
  • Highly visible and active in Nikanti general operations, approachable, mature, and well-rounded as a manager and leader. A problem solver who can effectively evaluate technical agronomic issues along with general administrative issues.
  • Proven leadership qualities with demonstrated ability to provide exceptional conditioning and effectively direct, coordinate and manage departmental employees.
  • Capable of a high degree of initiative, creativity and resourcefulness in directing the activities of the golf course maintenance activities.
  • The ability to accept constructive criticism respectfully and evaluate appropriate action options.
