Seoul, Korea: SMARTSCORE, Korea’s leading golf IT platform, has officially obtained ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certifications – internationally recognised standards for information security and privacy information management systems established by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).
This achievement formally recognises SMARTSCORE’s global-standard data protection capabilities, establishing a trusted foundation for its rapid international B2B expansion.
ISO 27001 is the premier global standard for information security management systems, evaluating an organisation’s ability to protect information assets and manage security risks across its operations. ISO 27701, an extension of ISO 27001, is the international standard for privacy information management, rigorously verifying an organisation’s capability to handle personal data throughout its entire lifecycle.
As a platform serving more than four million registered golfers and boasting more than one million Monthly Active Users (MAU), SMARTSCORE manages a massive volume of sensitive data. Securing these certifications officially demonstrates that SMARTSCORE’s infrastructure is capable of safely operating and protecting the round and score data of millions of golfers, as well as the operational big data of over 510 golf courses across eight countries globally.
In particular, the acquisition of ISO 27701 serves as a critical milestone for SMARTSCORE’s global strategy, as it validates compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This certification functions as an essential pre-requisite for entering and bidding in strict Western B2B markets, including the United States, Europe, and Australia, transforming a standard security announcement into a powerful global expansion storyline.
To attain these credentials, SMARTSCORE conducted comprehensive security inspections across its key information systems and software development deliverables. The company systematically aligned its management framework with global standards, enhancing controls in areas such as information asset management, access control, incident response, vendor management, and employee security training.
Yeom In-wook, CEO at SMARTSCORE, said: “Securing these ISO certifications is not merely an administrative milestone, but a foundational cornerstone for our global B2B partnerships.
“As we expand into highly regulated Western markets, including the US, Europe, and Australia, ensuring the absolute security of data for our four million golfers and 510-plus partner courses is our highest strategic priority. We will leverage this internationally verified trust to accelerate our global footprint and deliver unparalleled, secure data-driven golf IT solutions.”
