Singapore: The Singapore Island Country Club (SICC) has once again demonstrated the power of collective giving, hosting the 55th edition of its flagship SICC May Day Charity.
Held under the theme ‘Uplifting the Underserved’, this year’s milestone event on May 1 brought together members, corporate partners, beneficiaries, and community leaders in a shared commitment to advancing meaningful social impact.
Graced by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, the evening celebrated a legacy that has defined SICC’s role in Singapore’s philanthropic landscape since 1972. To date, the May Day Charity has raised over S$28 million in support of more than 100 charitable organisations. The 2026 edition continues this legacy, having raised over S$1.8 million to date, reinforcing the club’s enduring commitment to uplifting vulnerable communities.
The day commenced across the club’s three courses, where close to 600 participants took part in the annual charity golf tournament. Blending competitive play with a shared philanthropic purpose, the tournament set the tone for a day defined by unity, generosity, and community spirit.
Beyond the fairways, the May Day Charity continues to galvanise the entire club. Throughout the month, SICC’s sports and lifestyle fraternities are driving fund-raising efforts through a diverse line-up of activities spanning racquet sports, aquatics, wellness, and social initiatives, underscoring a truly club-wide movement dedicated to giving back
The celebrations culminated at the Island Grand Ballroom, where the Gala Dinner brought together donors, partners, and beneficiaries in a meaningful showcase of impact and shared purpose.
A highlight of the evening was the spotlight on the transformative power of inclusive support through performances by beneficiary groups. Nur Anisah Daaniys of iC2 PrepHouse delivered a deeply moving musical performance, reflecting her personal journey of resilience and the profound impact of early intervention. This was followed by a dynamic showcase by the HYPE dancers from IMPART, whose performance embodied confidence, unity, and the strength nurtured through community support.

At the heart of the SICC May Day Charity 2026 is its support for 13 beneficiary organisations dedicated to uplifting underserved communities across Singapore. These organisations span critical areas including healthcare, education, youth development, eldercare, and social reintegration; collectively forming a vital network of support for those in need.
Lam Zhiqun, Club Captain and May Day Charity Organising Committee Chairman, said: “The May Day Charity is a powerful reflection of what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared purpose. This year’s milestone edition reinforces our collective responsibility to uplift those in need, and demonstrates how sustained commitment can translate into meaningful, lasting impact for underserved communities.”
In a significant new initiative, SICC introduced its inaugural ‘Donate & Drive’ campaign in collaboration with President’s Challenge, marking the club’s first partnership with the national charity initiative.
Through this campaign, donors stand a chance to win a brand-new GAC HYPTEC (Gullwing) electric vehicle, sponsored by VINCAR Group and valued at over S$124,000 (excluding COE). Every S$20 donation entitles donors to one chance, while donations of S$300 receive an additional three bonus chances.
“The introduction of Donate & Drive marks an important step in how we evolve our fund-raising efforts. Our collaboration with the President’s Challenge allows us to extend our impact beyond the club, while reinforcing the role SICC can play in contributing to broader national initiatives that support underserved communities,” Lam added.
The campaign runs through May 9, with the final draw taking place at the Island Clubhouse, further amplifying fund-raising efforts and extending the reach of the club’s charitable mission.
