Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC) has appointed Kelly Tan as its newest Golf Ambassador, strengthening the club’s commitment to sporting excellence and the nurturing emerging talents.
The Malaysian professional golfer joins a distinguished group of ambassadors at KLGCC, reflecting the club’s pride in supporting elite athletes who embody the values and standards of one of Malaysia’s premier golf clubs.
Beyond offering a world-class golfing experience, KLGCC is committed to nurturing young talents by providing access to its facilities and development opportunities for aspiring golfers. With accomplished athletes such as Tan as an ambassador, the club hopes to inspire the next generation while fostering the growth of Malaysian golf.
Adam Calver, General Manager at KLGCC, said: “Kelly’s journey and achievements on the international stage make her an exceptional role model for young golfers. We are incredibly proud to welcome her as our ambassador. Her long-standing connection with the club and her passion for representing Malaysia align perfectly with KLGCC’s commitment to developing talent and promoting excellence in the sport.”
Tan’s professional achievements include a career-best world ranking of 140 and three professional victories – two on the Malaysian PGM Tour in 2019 and one on the Epson Tour – as well as the best Malaysian finish in a Major championship, placing tied 13th at the 2020 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. She also recorded her best career finish of tied second at the Dow LPGA Championship in both 2022 and 2023.
Across her LPGA career, she has achieved four top-10 finishes and 19 top-25 finishes. A two-time Olympian, Tan represented Malaysia at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, proudly carrying the nation’s flag on the global stage.
Tan’s connection with KLGCC dates back to her teenage years when she trained at the club as part of the national team.
She said: “I started playing here when I was part of the national team at the age of 16. One of my fondest memories was being invited to play in the 2010 Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia at KLGCC when I was just 17. After that event, Yayasan Sime Darby awarded me a Star Scholarship to finish high school at IMG Golf Academy in Florida. That opportunity changed my life and set me on the path to becoming an LPGA Tour professional golfer.
“My aspiration is to perform consistently at the highest level of professional golf while representing Malaysia with excellence and integrity. Beyond competitive results, I hope to inspire the next generation, contribute to the growth of high-performance golf development, and give back to the community that shaped me.
“KLGCC’s encouragement empowers me to compete confidently on the global stage, knowing I carry the pride of a club that represents the very best of Malaysian golf. I am truly honoured to be associated with KLGCC and remain committed to representing the club with professionalism and excellence wherever I compete.”
