Jakarta, Indonesia: Erick Thohir, Indonesia’s Minister of Youth and Sports, has hailed the Ciputra Golfpreneur Foundation (CGF) for its commitment to developing young golfers.

The Minister expressed his thoughts during the Ciputra Golfpreneur Awards at which he was a guest of honour.

The Awards are hosted by the Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World Championship (CGJWC) in appreciation of the support offered from its strategic partners. The ceremony at Jakarta’s Hotel Raffles celebrated partners who have demonstrated unwavering commitment to CGF’s mission to elevate golf talent across Indonesia, the Asia-Pacific region, and beyond.

The 2026 edition of the Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World Championship will take place at Damai Indah Golf’s PIK Course from June 9-12. For the first time, the event is being sanctioned by the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation, the latest indication of its growing status.

Speaking at the Jakarta gathering, Minister Thohir said: “As the Minister of Youth and Sports, I would like to express my gratitude to CGF for its consistent efforts in developing the world of golf and supporting its athletes, from preparation and training to providing access to quality education.

“The Ministry of Youth and Sports still has much to learn from CGF regarding scholarship programmes for athletes, although we have currently prepared LPDP scholarships aimed at both athletes and coaches.”

Budiarsa Sastrawinata, Founder and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the CGF, said: “We are grateful for the on-going support from individuals and organisations who share our goal of advancing golf excellence.

“The Ciputra Golfpreneur Awards is one meaningful way to honour those who have joined us on this journey, whether as people or institutions, and to acknowledge their shared dedication to developing golf achievements regionally and globally.”

Inaugurated in 1993 through the late Dr (HC) Ir. Ciputra, the Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World Championship began at national level before expanding to Southeast Asia, the Asia-Pacific region and, since 2007, the world stage.
