Nha Trang, Vietnam: Vinpearl has officially commenced construction of Vinpearl Golf Course at Bai Tre – being proclaimed as a six-star course with a unique clifftop terrain.

Bai Tre Golf Course is located in one of the most secluded and scenic spots on Hon Tre Island, stretching from Bai Tre to Dam Bay – a nearly unspoiled coastal landscape with cliffs facing directly out to the ocean.

“This is one of the extremely rare locations that simultaneously combines three unique elements: absolute privacy, majestic seascapes and islands, and a rocky coastal terrain with constantly changing elevations, creating the ideal foundation for a world-class links golf course,” said a spokesperson for the project.

The 19-hole links course has been designed by Kyle Phillips, whose body of work includes acclaimed courses such as California Golf Club of San Francisco (US); Kingsbarns (Scotland); South Cape Owners Club (Korea); and Yas Links (Abu Dhabi, UAE).

Phillips designed the Bai Tre course with the philosophy of absolutely respecting the natural terrain, minimising intervention in the landscape or original topography, while utilising the characteristic sea breeze and native vegetation to fully recreate the spirit of the world’s most famous links courses.

Phillips developed the course structure based on the unique coastal cliff terrain of the Bai Tre area. The alignment of the golf holes follows the natural variations in elevation and wind direction, forcing players to constantly sense the surrounding factors affecting their shots and adjust their strategy accordingly.

The spokesperson said: “This is the first golf course in Vietnam designed on a coastal cliff, offering a completely different experience in terms of both visuals and playing strategy, where every shot is influenced by the sea breeze, altitude, and the open ocean.

“In addition, the inclusion of the 19th hole is designed to extend the experience after the round, enhance connectivity, and create a fun space for interaction among golfers, completing the ultimate, fulfilling, and sophisticated golfing experience.”

Vinpearl said the aim is to develop ‘a six-star public course, serving the domestic and international golf community seeking a high-class experience, elite groups, and Vinhomes residents in Nha Trang’. Alongside the unique golf experience, the clubhouse is designed in a luxurious and sophisticated style, emphasising privacy and personalisation.
