Hong Kong SAR, China: Hong Kong Golf Club (HKGC) stalwarts Ian Gardner and Andy Kwok have been recognised for their contributions to the success of LIV Golf Hong Kong.
Following Jon Rahm’s triumph at Fanling last weekend, HKGC General Manager Gardner and Club Captain Kwok were presented with mementos by LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil and EVP and Head of Events Ross Hallett.
The 2026 edition of HSBC LIV Golf Hong Kong was the last international tournament at which Gardner and Kwok will represent the club before stepping down from their respective roles.
During his tenure, Gardner, who joined the club as General Manager in November 2014, has overseen 10 Hong Kong Opens, three Hong Kong Ladies Opens, an Aramco Team Series, a National Games of China Championship and three LIV Hong Kong events.
Reflecting on his time at the historic club, Gardner said: “Phew! It’s been an eventful 11 years at Hong Kong Golf Club! It’s been an absolute honour to work alongside our wonderful team of employees at Fanling who have worked so hard to deliver each of these events so successfully.”
Comprising three acclaimed golf courses – the Old Course (opened in 1911), the New Course (1931) and the Eden Course (1970) – as well as a heritage cluster of historical buildings including the clubhouse (1914) and Old Course Halfway House (1916), the Fanling venue has been commended by UNESCO for enhancing heritage interpretation, its environmental stewardship, landscape conservation and community outreach endeavours.
