Lawrence, Kansas, United States: Paul Carter has been elected to a one-year term as President of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) at the Association’s annual meeting, which was held in conjunction with the GCSAA Conference and Trade Show in Orlando. The GCSAA turns 100 on September 23, 2026.

Superintendent at The Bear Trace at Harrison Bay in Harrison, Tennessee, Carter is the 89th President in the Association’s history. He served as Vice President of the Association in 2025.

He has been a member of the Association’s Board of Directors since 2019. A 33-year member of GCSAA, Carter is also a member of the Tennessee GCSA and Past President of the Tennessee Turfgrass Association.

Carter has served as Superintendent at The Bear Trace at Harrison Bay since 2001. He holds a bachelor’s degree in agriculture sciences from Auburn University.

He said: “I am honoured, privileged and proud to be the 89th President of GCSAA. But it’s not my year. It’s your year. It’s our year. It’s GCSAA’s year. So, as we kick off the centennial, I can’t think of a better way to honour our founder, Colonel John Morley, than to get engaged.”

In addition to Carter, chapter delegates elected Marc Weston, Superintendent at Indian Hill Country Club in Newington, Connecticut, as Vice President, and Steven Hammon, Superintendent at Traverse City (Michigan) Country Club, as Secretary/Treasurer.

Aaron Fankhauser, Director of Agronomy at The Club at Rolling Hills in Golden, Colorado, was newly elected to join the Board, while Board members Brian Roth, Superintendent at Oquirrh Hills Golf Course in Tooele, Utah, and Ryan Kraushofer, Superintendent and General Manager at Westminster National Golf Course in Westminster, Maryland, were re-elected to serve.

Board members Scott Griffith, Director of Agronomy at the University of Georgia Golf Course, and Gregory Jones, Director of Agronomy at Champions Run in Omaha, Nebraska, continue their service on the Board.

TA Barker, Superintendent at Fore Lakes Golf Course in Taylorsville, Utah, will serve one year as immediate Past President, while Jeff White, Director of Agronomy at Indian Hills Country Club in Mission Hills, Kansas, retires from the Board.
