Shenzhen, China: Liu Ruixin claimed a stunning victory at the Aramco China Championship, securing her first Ladies European Tour (LET) title in fine style on home soil at Mission Hills Golf Club.

The cool, calm and collected Liu posted rounds of 70, 65 and 68 for a 16-under aggregate as the record-breaking home crowds cheered her on, assisting in her pursuit of the final PIF Global Series event of the season

Liu, who spends most of her season competing on the LPGA Tour, has recorded two top-20 finishes this year and boasts eight career victories on the Epson Tour – the official qualifying and developmental circuit for the LPGA. She topped the Money List in 2019, earning promotion to the LPGA Tour.

Following her Mission Hills triumph, Liu said: “It’s very special. I grew up here, and I haven’t played a professional event in Shenzhen since turning pro. To do so and win the trophy on my first try gives me a lot of confidence moving forward.

“It’s very pleasant – the whole set-up is impressive. This course is playing very tough; it’s not short, and it’s a very challenging layout. Huge credit to the Mission Hills team and Golf Saudi for working together. In the future, if I have the chance, I’d love to play more PIF Global Series events.”

A record-breaking 11,650 fans attended across the three days at Mission Hills – the highest turnout at any PIF Global Series event. Liu joked that, at first, the crowd was cheering more for her compatriot and friend Yin Ruoning, affectionately known as ‘Ronni’. But that began to shift as she started making more birdies.

She said: “At the beginning, most people were cheering for Ronni, which I totally understand. For the first few holes, no one was clapping for me – everyone was clapping for Ronni! But she’s a true friend, and toward the end, people started cheering for me more and more. I began making more birdies, and I really felt the support from my home crowd.”

Throughout the final event of the PIF Global Series, there was a strong sense that women’s golf is entering a new era – driven by strategic investment and vision from Golf Saudi, the tournament’s organiser. This support not only empowers female athletes to compete at the highest level in front of enthusiastic crowds, but also offers life-changing prize purses. The initiative also plays a key role in strengthening tourism and cultural ties between Saudi Arabia and China.

Mission Hills was buzzing with energy as enthusiastic crowds gathered to witness world-class women’s golf and even take part themselves through on-site Golf Saudi clinics.

The final stretch of play was tightly contested, but Liu rose to the occasion with a clutch birdie on the 11th, a dramatic eagle on the 16th, and a closing birdie on the 18th to seal a three-stroke victory.

During the week, the LET announced the expansion of the PIF Global Series, organised by Golf Saudi, featuring five tournaments across three continents in 2026.

With a combined prize pool of US$15 million, the enhanced series strengthens the partnership between the LET, PIF, and Golf Saudi – reaffirming their shared commitment to expanding opportunities and increasing global visibility for women in golf.
