Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: The Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Golf Saudi have announced the launch of PIF Future Fairways, a ground-breaking platform previewing three next-generation golf courses that showcase Saudi Arabia’s vision to become a world-class golf destination.

Leveraging advanced 3D mapping, the initiative introduces immersive experiences of Shura Links, Laheq and Trojena Northern – three courses currently in either the construction or planning phases. These three flagship courses are part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 project and mark a major step in tripling the number of golf courses in the country by the end of the decade.

Developed in partnership with leading international designers, the courses blend world-class design, cutting-edge sustainability practices, and unique natural environments.

Shura Links is set on Shura Island along the Red Sea and designed by Curley-Wagner Design. Set to open this autumn, the course features 18 holes woven through mangroves and sweeping dunes, with a dramatic finish along the shoreline.

Grassed with Platinum TE Paspalum and supported by an advanced Toro irrigation system, the 7,601-yard, par-72 course is designed to test the very best, while offering a playable yet challenging layout for amateurs off more forward tees.

The 18th hole concludes below a striking clubhouse designed by Foster + Partners, while a two-acre putting course is also part of the golf offering.

Laheq Golf Course, also designed by Curley-Wagner Design, lies between desert mountains and the Red Sea. Emphasising minimal earthwork and natural terrain, Laheq promises to be a walkable layout that preserves the site’s ecological integrity.

Routed through expansive coral terrain and sculpted dunes, the 7,327-yard, par-71 course will feature salt-tolerant Platinum TE Paspalum  turf, native vegetation, and an efficient Toro irrigation system, positioning it as one of the region’s most sustainable courses. Expected to open by 2028, Laheq will be a centrepiece of The Red Sea destination’s leisure offering.

Trojena Northern Golf Course, located high in the Sarwat Mountains, is to be designed by 2010 US Open champion Graeme McDowell and Matthew Dusenberry, although an opening date is yet to be confirmed.

Offering a 300-metre elevation change and panoramic mountain views, the course will be routed through cliffs and canyons, delivering a dynamic and varied round that rewards creative shot-making and strategic play. With cool-season grasses and year-round playability thanks to its cooler mountain climate, Trojena highlights NEOM’s vision for futuristic, sustainable tourism.

PIF Future Fairways will be showcased at all PIF Global Series tournaments from 2025 into the 2026 season, including Houston (September 5-7) and Shenzhen (November 6-8).
