West Palm Beach, Florida, United States: Women’s Golf Day (WGD) gave the golf community a great excuse to par-tee and share its passion for the women’s game as the global movement that activates and celebrates women and girls playing golf celebrated its 10th anniversary.
The festivities kicked off on social media with WGD Palooza, featuring an interview with ex-Major champion and Solheim Cup player and captain Suzann Pettersen, as well as giveaways, content and exclusive offers from partners Full Swing, Troon, Golfbreaks, Ahead, Cutter & Buck, Omni Hotels & Resorts, Women’s US Open merchandise and WGD swag.
The celebrations then extended around the world from May 27 to June 3 with hundreds of WGD events taking place in every continent, apart from Antarctica.
In Asia, Accordia, Japan’s leading multi-course operator, hosted WGD at eight of its properties across the country. The Japan Golf Association has embraced WGD and its ethos and has been instrumental in the growth of WGD with a total of 94 WGD events in Japan this year.
In the UAE, an event was hosted at GOLFTEC Dubai, an indoor learning facility that engaged new and existing golfers.
The Toro Company partnered with WGD and hosted an event for female employees at its Minnesota headquarters.
Elisa Gaudet, Founder of WGD, said: “Thanks to everyone who has supported and participated in the 10th Women’s Golf Day.
“The golf facilities, organisers, sponsors, partners and golf industry professionals who help create this incredible community are investing in their future and taking action to support more women and girls getting into golf.
“Most importantly, we can see from the photos around the world just how much the women who participate in WGD events value them, look forward to them and the community which they are a part of.
“It’s hard to believe we just completed 10 years of events. We started out wanting to create events geared to what women want and offering access to more facilities and now WGD has become a global movement. This is the result of hard work – all year long – by a dedicated team and collaboration from organisations that see the importance of investing in women and Women’s Golf Day.
“We especially want to thank the USGA, PGA of America and the R&A who continue to support WGD and our shared mission.”
