Tangier, Morocco: Al Houara Golf Club is celebrating a successful first year under the Troon International division management as a Troon Golf-branded facility.
After engaging Troon International – the international division of Troon, the world’s largest golf hospitality management company – at the end of 2023, the facility has seen remarkable growth through enhanced operations and significant financial improvements.
The venue has also recruited respected industry professional Cameron Procter as the new Director of Golf, overseeing the 18-hole course and associated facilities.
Procter, who previously served as Corporate Director of Golf for Lopesan Hotels and has held management positions at golf venues in Spain and his native Canada, will lean on his two-plus decades of experience to facilitate Al Houara’s growth within the sport.
Procter said: “A return to the area and the golf resort business is an exciting prospect and I am looking forward to discovering golf in Morocco. I am excited to support the development of Al Houara Golf Club as a golf destination and showcase all of its fantastic offering.”
Since coming under Troon International management, Al Houara Golf Club has enjoyed a transformational year:
DJ Flanders, Executive Vice President of Troon International, said: “Al Houara Golf Club is a special place and the potential to make it even better was clear when we were engaged by the facility a little over a year ago.
“The growth over the last 12 months has been wonderful to see and is a testament to the hard work of everyone involved, as well as the vision of the venue’s ownership. We look forward to seizing this momentum and continuing the upward trajectory for many years to come.”
Nestled between the majestic Rif mountains and the sparkling waters of the Atlantic Ocean, the course at Al Houara Golf Club was designed by Graham Marsh and Vijay Singh. The layout winds through golden sand dunes and lush green forests.
