Malaga, Spain: Aloha Golf Club has become the first club located on the Iberian Peninsula to partner with The R&A Agronomy Service on a premium ‘venue’ support agreement.

As part of The R&A’s growing focus on delivering performance through sustainability, The R&A Agronomy Service applies fact-based evidence to actively promote agronomic and playing quality excellence, as well as turf performance, across the global golf industry.

Paul Woodham, Agronomy Lead for Europe and the United Kingdom at The R&A, said: We are privileged to announce Aloha as the first ‘Venue 2025’ client in our growing portfolio of golf clubs.

“It’s incredibly exciting to collaborate with such a renowned and forward-thinking club, whose leadership and ambition set a strong example for the wider golf community.”

Internationally recognised for its role in governance and the staging of world-class amateur and professional championships – including The Open and the AIG Women’s Open – The R&A leads by example in promoting long-term environmental responsibility without compromising on performance.

The collaboration with Aloha Golf Club will demonstrate the value of a tailored, sustainable approach to course conditioning.

Luis Cornejo and Pablo Muñoz, who have been instrumental in the Spanish club’s recent renovation, will continue to support the project as part of The R&A Agronomy Team, alongside Woodham and Richard Windows, Assistant Director – Sustainable Agronomy Services at The R&A, based in St Andrews.

Borja Oliva, Director and General Manager of Aloha Golf Club, said: We are extremely proud to be recognised as the first R&A Sustainable Agronomy premium venue. This partnership underlines our long-term commitment to environmental responsibility and excellence in course presentation.

“Working with The R&A’s agronomy team is a unique opportunity to align our practices with the very best in the industry.”
