Sentosa Set to Welcome World’s Best

HSBC TOURNAMENT PLAYERS ARTWORK

Singapore: Yin Ruoning, Lydia Ko, Lilia Vu and Ko Jin-young will join defending champion Hannah Green at the 2025 HSBC Women’s World Championship at Sentosa Golf Club.

The five star players with 10 Major victories between them will feature together on stunning artwork placed around the city promoting the HSBC Women’s World Championship and the return of the world’s best golfers to Singapore from February 27 to March 2.

World number three Ko had a year to remember in 2024. In addition to her victory at last January’s Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, the New Zealander won a gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, completing her unique set of Olympic medals – silver (2016 Rio de Janeiro), bronze (2020 Tokyo) and gold (2024 Paris) – making her the only golfer in the modern era to achieve all three medals at three different Olympic Games.

The win qualified her to become the 35th and youngest inductee into the LPGA Hall of Fame. A fortnight after her Paris triumph, Ko claimed the AIG Women’s Open over the Old Course at St Andrews, her third Major championship.

Ko said: “We all love visiting Singapore as it’s an amazing city. But we especially love the way HSBC and the tournament organisers set everything up to make the tournament feel so Major.

“From the minute you arrive at the airport, we see promotions for the tournament all around, and it makes us feel so celebrated and welcomed. I am delighted to be part of this beautiful creative celebrating another amazing line-up of women at the 2025 HSBC Women’s World Championship.”

Two-time winner Ko, currently world number 11, will be looking to get back into the winner’s circle for the first time since May 2023, while world number five Vu will be seeking her first top-10 finish in Singapore.

China’s top-ranked player, 22-year-old Yin, the world number two, is hoping to add to her ever-increasing tally of LPGA titles, having already won five times.

Of the 16 past editions of the championship, 14 have been won by Major champions. The 2024 field will feature players of 22 nationalities, including 20 Major champions and eight of the world’s top 10.

The 72-hole stroke play tournament will once again be played on the Tanjong Course at Sentosa Golf Club, which hosts its 12th edition of the tournament.

Celebrated for its commitment to sustainability initiatives in golf globally, Sentosa Golf Club holds the titles for ‘Asia’s Best Golf Course’, ‘Asia’s Best Eco-Friendly Golf Facility’ and ‘Singapore’s Best Golf Course’ as awarded at the 2024 World Golf Awards.
