Hong Kong SAR, China: The venerable Hong Kong Golf Club (HKGC) has earned the coveted Distinguished Club with Iconic status moniker from BoardRoom magazine.
A Facility Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation, the HKGC is the first golf club outside of the United States to hold such designation.
“The only other golf clubs to be recognised as such are Augusta National, Cypress Point, Pine Valley, San Francisco and Shinnecock Hills, which puts us in very fine company indeed,” said a statement from the HKGC.
According to the listed criteria, Distinguished Clubs with Iconic status are ‘75+ year-old clubs with membership by invitation only that have hosted a national or international championship sporting or political event and are widely considered as one of the most prestigious private clubs in the world.’
In a posting on LinkedIn, Distinguished Clubs said: “Kudos to Hong Kong Golf Club for securing the BoardRoom magazine Distinguished Club designation with ICONIC status for 2024!
“The staff and leadership team deserve praise for their efforts in providing an exceptional member experience. This was recently verified through an in-person survey by a certified, tenured and credentialed Distinguished Clubs professional, and the verification of their satisfaction of the 5 Quality Standards and 37 Distinguished Practices (our criteria).”
