Singapore: World number six Hannah Green will return to Sentosa Golf Club next year to defend her title at the HSBC Women’s World Championship.

The 2019 KPMG Women’s PGA champion won the 2024 edition by one stroke over France’s Celine Boutier. The 27-year-old closed with a final-round 67, making three birdies in the last three holes, including a 30-foot birdie putt on the 18th, to capture her fourth LPGA title.

This victory made her the second Australian to win the event, following Karrie Webb in 2011.

Green, whose defence will take place over the Tanjong Course from February 27 to March 2, said: “I’m really excited to return to the HSBC Women’s World Championship next year and defend my title. Winning at Sentosa (in 2024) was incredible, especially with that thrilling finish and unforgettable putt.

“Even before my win, this event has always been one of my favourites on Tour – HSBC does an excellent job with hosting us, and Sentosa Golf Club does the same preparing the course. Coming back as the defending champion makes it even more special. It’s been a strong year for me, and I’m hoping to carry this momentum into the next season.”

Since her win in Singapore, Green has added two more LPGA Tour titles to her name. She successfully defended her title at the JM Eagle LA Championship in April and triumphed at the BMW Ladies Championship in October, once again edging out Boutier by one stroke.

Kee Joo Wong, CEO at HSBC Singapore, said: “We can’t wait for ‘Asia’s Major’ to return to Singapore for the 17th edition of the HSBC Women’s World Championship.

“At HSBC, we are dedicated to opening up a world of opportunity for women in sport and to showcase the best of women’s golf in the global hub of Singapore. We’re especially excited to welcome back defending champion Hannah Green. Sentosa Golf Club has also been an exceptional host for this event, and we eagerly look forward to the 2025 championship.”

Grant Slack, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Golf Events at IMG, the tournament promoters, said: “We are incredibly proud to collaborate with HSBC and our partners to host the 2025 HSBC Women’s World Championship, a tournament that continues to elevate women’s golf in Singapore and across the Asia-Pacific region.

“We are immensely grateful for the unwavering support of our partners – HSBC, the Singapore Tourism Board, Sentosa Golf Club, the LPGA, and all our sponsors – whose dedication has been instrumental in the success of the past 16 editions.

“We’re thrilled to welcome back Hannah Green alongside a stellar world-class field, promising unforgettable moments for golf fans in Singapore. We are also dedicated to creating innovative experiences for fans of all ages.”

Celebrated for its commitment to sustainability initiatives in golf globally, Sentosa Golf Club proudly holds the titles for ‘Asia’s Best Golf Course’, ‘Asia’s Best Eco-Friendly Golf Facility’ and ‘Singapore’s Best Golf Course’ as awarded at the 2024 World Golf Awards.
