Club Car’s Grow the Game Initiative Hailed

Club Car WGD

Augusta, Georgia, United States: Club Car Women’s Employee Network (WEN), The Practice Club at Jones Creek, iHeart Media Augusta and Cher’s Sisters Only Club welcomed more than 200 participants to an event hosted in recognition of the global celebration of Women’s Golf Day.

“Club Car Women’s Employee Network saw Women’s Golf Day as the perfect opportunity to expand what Club Car is doing to support golf industry Grow the Game initiatives,” said Lynthia Ross, Global Communications Leader for Club Car, an Executive Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.

“With this event, WEN wanted to bring women together and remove barriers and intimidation that can be associated with golf. The laughter and smiling faces prove that the mission was accomplished.”

The Practice Club at Jones Creek opened its bay doors and the entire range for participants to have one-on-one instruction and to practice the skills they learned.

Women enjoyed lessons from the PGA teaching professional and the warm friendly welcome from the staff. Former PGA Tour and Champions Tour member Jim Dent stopped by to greet the ladies and shared pointers with ladies working on the practice range.

Andrew Brooks, Owner of The Practice Club at Jones Creek, said: “It was amazing to see the diverse groups of ladies that came to experience golf – some picking up golf clubs for the first time and others play golf with groups a few times a week. The atmosphere and energy were electrifying. We can’t wait to invite them back.”

The event was free and open to the public. Participants were asked to donate to support the charitable mission of Cher’s Sisters Only Club by participating in Long Drive and Closest to the Pin contests.

The event raised US$1,000 that will be used for scholarships and women’s initiatives planned by the organisation.

“Our members enjoyed the female-o-ship and fun during the Women’s Golf Day event. Everyone had a great time meeting women from across the community and learning the game of golf,” said Cher Best, President of Cher’s Sisters Only Club.

“We are truly grateful to Club Car WEN for having the vision to host this event and bring us all together,” she added.
