Scottsdale, Arizona, United States: May is ‘Player Development Month’ and ‘National Tennis Month’ at Troon-affiliated facilities, Troon Golf Academies, as well as Cliff Drysdale Tennis and Peter Burwash International tennis facilities around the world.
Both initiatives are geared toward getting people active through participation in golf and/or tennis activities.
Troon created Player Development Month 12 years ago as a way of introducing beginners to the game in a fun and educational setting, while also creating opportunities for existing players to improve.
During Player Development Month, Troon-affiliated clubs and courses will amplify instructional opportunities and encourage golfers to participate in the Troon Swing Challenge.
With the Troon Swing Challenge, golfers can submit their swings or a golf buddy’s swing and Tim Mahoney, Troon’s Global Director of Education and Coaching, will review and provide coaching tips. To have a swing reviewed, post a swing video on Instagram and include the hashtag #TROONSWINGCHALLENGE in the caption.
In addition, Troon has developed specific days to highlight a different part of the game, including:
- Movement Monday: Proper body mechanics are the foundation of a consistent, powerful swing. Troon instructors will demonstrate effective drills and exercises to help golfers improve their mobility, balance, and muscle memory.
- Teacher Tuesday: Get to know Troon’s talented team of teaching professionals. Troon will spotlight their backgrounds, teaching philosophies, and unique approaches that have helped countless students achieve their goals.
- Women’s Wednesday: In honour of the growing number of women taking up the game, Troon will feature content tailored to female golf experiences. This may include swing tips, equipment recommendations, and insights from women instructors or from women’s golf clinics.
- Technology Thursday: Explore how the latest advancements in golf technology, from launch monitors to swing analysis apps, can elevate your practice sessions and on-course performance.
- Swing Fix Friday: Is your slice driving you crazy? Can’t seem to consistently make solid contact? Here are a few ways to fix that. Use the #TROONSWINGCHALLENGE and have Tim Mahoney provide coaching tips.
- Short Game Saturday: Around the greens is where most strokes can be saved. This includes drills, techniques, and course management strategies to help you master putting, chipping, and bunker play.
- Student Sunday: Celebrate the achievements of our dedicated students! Troon will share inspiring testimonials and highlight the progress made by golfers who have embraced Troon’s player development programmes.
