Singapore: After showing their thirst for knowledge at a pre-LIV Golf Singapore seminar, greenkeepers and turf managers displayed a healthy appetite at an Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF)-sponsored barbecue.

As part of the LIV Golf Singapore week, Sentosa Golf Club is running an Agronomy Superintendent Volunteer Programme at which attendees are learning about the club’s state-of-the-art course conditioning.

During an educational seminar yesterday, The R&A’s Chris Gray, The Toro Company’s Richard Walne and BRT Agronomy’s Brad Revill all made presentations.

The day culminated with the AGIF-sponsored barbecue at Sentosa Golf Club’s Golf Maintenance facility with the Federation’s President Gray and Treasurer Mark Donohue leading the cooking duties.

Elliot Murdoch, the AGIF’s General Manager, said: “The barbecue was a fitting way to finish what was an excellent day. It was good to see a strong turnout of individuals from AGIF Facility Members.”

Walne, Managing Director, APAC, The Toro Company, set the ball rolling at the seminar, presenting new research and development updates from The Toro Company.

Gray then provided updates on the AGIF’s progress and the background behind the success of the on-going Certificate in Greenkeeping programme. Wearing his hat as Head of Sustainable Golf & Agronomy, Asia-Pacific at The R&A, Gray also shared insights on The R&A’s research with carbon sequestration.

For his part, Revill, Managing Director, BRT Agronomy, showcased updates and focused his presentation on Soil Testing.

Featuring a host of Major champions, led by Jon RahmBrooks Koepka, Cameron Smith and Dustin Johnson, LIV Golf Singapore is being staged over the award-winning Serapong Course from May 3-5.
