St Andrews, Scotland: The R&A has confirmed three events in Asia which will offer opportunities for golfers to qualify for The 152nd Open at Royal Troon in July.

Three places will be available at The IRS Prima Malaysian Open, which takes place at The Mines in Kuala Lumpur from February 15-18 and is sanctioned by the Asian Tour.

The Mizuno Open, sanctioned by the Japan Golf Tour, will also offer three places when it is played at JFE Setonaikai, Okayama from May 23-26.

Two places will be offered at the KOLON Korea Open being held at Woo Jeong Hills in Cheonan from June 20-23. It is co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Korean Tour.

The 152nd Open will be played at Royal Troon from July 18-21.

Among those who have already secured their passage to Scotland is Australian Jasper Stubbs, winner of last year’s Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship at Royal Melbourne Golf Club.

The Open is golf’s original championship. Played since 1860 on iconic links golf courses, it is the sport’s most international Major championship with qualifying events on every continent.

For one week each year, the pursuit of the famous Claret Jug trophy is the focus of the sporting world, followed globally by millions of fans.

Staged by The R&A, The Open delivers an annual economic benefit of around £100 million to its host region, while the Championship’s commercial success supports the development of the game worldwide.
