Singapore: Sustainability and carbon neutrality will remain at the top of Sentosa Golf Club’s (SGC) agenda.
At the end of a year in which the club’s Serapong Course hosted the inaugural LIV Golf Singapore and was named the World’s Best Golf Course at the World Golf Awards, the SGC’s commitment to sustainability is stronger than ever.
“Absolutely, we have a continuous commitment to sustainability,” said Andrew Johnston, General Manager and Director of Agronomy at SGC, a Facility Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
He added: “We are exploring innovative ways to further reduce our environmental impact, such as water conservation, renewable energy, and wildlife habitat enhancement.
“Our goal is to lead by example and inspire other golf clubs to embrace sustainable practices.
“Sustainability and carbon neutrality are paramount for the future of golf and the environment. By reducing our carbon footprint, we not only help to combat climate change but also set an example for the industry.
“It aligns with our values and ensures a beautiful, sustainable environment for generations to come, while also attracting like-minded golfers who share our commitment to environmental stewardship.”
Reflecting on one of the highlights at Sentosa in 2023, Johnston said: “LIV Golf Singapore was a resounding success, not only in showcasing the Serapong’s abilities, but also in elevating our reputation as a championship venue.
“LIV Golf Singapore had a tremendous positive impact, attracting global attention to Sentosa Island and Singapore as a premier golfing destination, allowing the global golfing world to see Singapore and Sentosa as world golfing powerhouse.
“It introduced our beautiful island to the world and created lasting relationships. Moreover, it left a legacy by inspiring us to continue to strive for excellence and innovation in the golf industry, fostering sustainable practices.”
