Scottsdale, Arizona, United States: No fewer than 31 Troon-affiliated resorts and golf courses around the globe have been recognised as ‘the world’s best’ by GOLF Magazine and the World Golf Awards.

The ‘Top 100 Golf Resorts in the World’ honours were published in the September issue of GOLF Magazine and the ‘World’s Best’ awards were announced at the 2023 World Golf Awards in Abu Dhabi in late October.

“Troon would like to congratulate our stakeholders and associates on these achievements,” said Bruce Glasco, Chief Operating Officer at Troon, an Executive Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.

“Accolades like these demonstrate the hard work, investment and commitment that goes into every golfer’s experience,” added Glasco.

Among the big winners were Cambodia’s Vattanac Golf Resort which was included in GOLF Magazine’s list.

A 45-minute drive from Phnom Penh city centre, the Facility Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation features two contrasting Sir Nick Faldo-designed courses.

Both the East Course and West Course provide spectacular settings around famous cultural expressions that include scale models of Khmer historical architectural sites, such as Angkor Wat, Preah Vihear, Terrace of the Elephants and Bayon.

The West Course was named as Best Course in Cambodia in the World Golf Awards, the fourth year in a row it has achieved that accolade (2020-2023). The East Course received the award in 2019 while The Dragon Turn, Vattanac Golf Resort’s night golf venue, was recipient of the World’s Best Nine-Hole Golf Course in 2021.

“It is an honour for us to receive our seventh World Golf Award in the form of Cambodia’s Best Golf Course in 2023,” said Neak Oknha Vattanac Sam Ang, Vattanac Group Executive Director.

“It is the consistency of receiving recognition year-after-year which is very satisfying for all of us, as it highlights our position as the pride of Cambodia along with our commitment to firmly placing Phnom Penh on the world stage as an up-and-coming golf destination ready to welcome golf tourists from around the globe.”

Clinton Norris, Troon’s Director of Sales & Marketing, who collected the award in the UAE, said: “We would like to dedicate this award to the entire team at Vattanac Golf Resort. The team do an exceptional job delivering the Troon Golf experience day in day out.

“We would also like to dedicate this award to our ownership, the Vattanac Family, for their vision and dedication to excellence.”

Another AGIF Facility Member to be recognised was The Els Club Dubai, which was named the Middle East’s Best Golf Course.

The World Golf Awards celebrate world-class golf courses and golf destinations, recognising excellence within golf tourism and are voted for by professionals working within the golf travel and tourism industries as well as golf tourism consumers.
