Singapore: The inaugural Singapore Golf Association (SGA) Golf Week is set to bring together the community and stakeholders as it celebrates and recognises supporters of the sport of golf across various locations in Singapore.
Featuring a strong line-up of leaders from the region’s golfing community, the Asia Golf Convention at the Singapore Island Country Club on November 14 will kick-start a week during which industry gurus and sports officials from across Asia share their insights on a wide range of topics that include agronomy, sustainability, mental wellness and golf in Asia.
“We are excited to announce the launch of our inaugural SGA Golf Week as it will play a pivotal role in shaping the golf eco-system not only in Singapore but also the region,” said Tan Chong Huat, President of the SGA, an Associate Business Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
“We look forward to working with our partners and stakeholders to promote and enhance the golfing culture and landscape in the region,” he added.
The President’s Cup followed by an Annual Gala and Awards dinner at Orchid Country Club on November 15 will also anchor this week-long golf fiesta, aiming to recognise and appreciate all supporters and stakeholders in the golf eco-system.
The President’s Cup is also expected to raise funds through the One Team Singapore Fund (OTSF) for SGA’s High-Performance golf programmes and initiatives to develop Singapore golf, including the hosting of two major international tournaments – next year’s Southeast Asian Amateur Golf Team Championship and the World Amateur Team Championships in 2025.
Themed as Golf is a Force for Good and Get Golfing!, the Community Engagement and Golf Fiesta at Keppel Club and Downtown East respectively will become the platform for community participation with a focus on the fun and social aspects of the sport.
The SGA will collaborate with Keppel Club to provide less privileged groups with the opportunity to try their hand at golf, followed by lunch to encourage fostering of friendships through the sport on November 16.
Working in partnership with NTUC Club, the Golf Fiesta at Downtown East over the weekend of November 18-19 will feature a fun-filled extravaganza of golf-themed activities for everyone. The aim of the golf carnival is to introduce and promote golf to the wider community, the shared mission of both the SGA and NTUC Club.
Co-organisers of the Convention include the SGA and the ASEAN Golf Federation while The R&A and the Asian Golf Industry Federation are among the supporting organisations.
