Jupiter, Florida, United States: No fewer than 10 Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF) member companies have been named in the National Golf Foundation’s (NGF) latest list of the Top 100 Businesses in Golf.
The listing recognises the most influential, successful, prominent and innovative companies on the commercial side of the golf industry in the United States.
Included in the NGF Golf 100 are companies and brands that deliver products and services primarily targeted to golfers and golf courses, and conduct all, or a majority of, their business in the United States.
Club Car, ENVU (formerly known as Bayer Environmental Science), John Deere, Rain Bird, Syngenta, Textron Golf (Jacobsen), Toro and Troon – all Executive Members of the AGIF – made the list, along with Full Business Members Greg Norman Company (including Greg Norman Golf Course Design) and Jonas Club Software.
The NGF Golf 100 is not a ranking, rather more of a who’s-who list across various sectors of the golf industry: equipment, apparel, retail, media, turf maintenance and course supplies, software and consumer technology, developers and builders, management companies and more.
As such, top 100 representatives span the spectrum: a portfolio company (Acushnet) of well-known brands like Titleist and Footjoy, equipment manufacturers from TaylorMade to PING, apparel and accessory companies such as adidas and AHEAD, golf retail giant PGA Tour Superstore, a cutting-edge instruction and club-fitting company in GOLFTEC, the game’s biggest management company in Troon, and an industry leader in turf care and irrigation like Toro.
In a notable shift for the third edition of the Golf 100, associations and Tours are recognised separately. While the PGA Tour is one of golf’s biggest businesses, associations like the USGA and PGA of America are cornerstones of the game’s history and growth.
But to better highlight the commercial side of the business, NGF’s latest edition of the Golf 100 focuses on companies that sell goods or services geared toward consumers and golf courses.
