Evian, France: French-based asset management company Amundi, title sponsor of this week’s Evian Championship, will sponsor seven emerging female golfers as they launch their careers in Asia.
The launch of Asia Amundi Team 2022 comes after the creation of the Europe Amundi Team in 2021 and that of the US Amundi Team earlier in 2022, and underscores Amundi’s commitment to women’s golf since becoming the five-year title partner of the women’s golf Major in Evian last year, renamed The Amundi Evian Championship.
The sponsorship is part of the Amundi Women Talent Programme, which provides financial assistance to talented young women golfers from around the world as they compete in high-profile international tournaments, and is borne out of Amundi’s commitment to gender equality and diversity.
Other major initiatives in support of women’s golf include the title sponsorship of the Amundi Czech Ladies Challenge and the launch this year of the Amundi German Masters, bringing back a top class women’s golf tournament to Germany.
Amundi is also supporting the younger generation of golfers, men and women, through the Amundi Young Talent Programme.
The seven players are Yin Ruoning, Sui Xiang, Liu Wenbo, Sophie Han and Tiffany Huang from China; Budsabakorn Sukapan from Thailand and Sayaka Takahashi from Japan.
Amundi said the seven athletes have demonstrated immense talent and commitment to the sport in their early careers to date.
Alain Berry, Head of Communications at Amundi, said: “Amundi has vowed its long-term commitment to advancing women’s golf via the Amundi Evian Championship.
“As part of our support in promoting diversity and equality, we are excited to launch the new Asia Amundi Team and to support female athletes in a region of strategic importance to Amundi.
“In partnering with players like Xiang, Wenbo, Ruoning, Sophie, Tiffany, Budsabakorn and Sayaka we look forward to helping them unveil their potential further and emerge on the international golf scene.”
