Persevere in Pursuing Your Passions: Madame Nga

Hanoi, Vietnam: Perseverance in pursuing your passions will lead to success for women in golf and all walks of life.

That’s the view of Madame Nguyen Thi Nga, Founder of the BRG Group, one of the leading private multi-sector economic groups in Vietnam, and a pioneer and inspiration to women around the region.

“My motto right from the beginning of my business career has been to persevere in pursuing your passions and aspirations, constantly dedicating to the advancement of the community and the development of the country,” said Madame Nga, in the latest interview in the Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF) series about Women in Sports, which shines a spotlight on females in the sporting world.

“Conquer your aspirations with both your whole mind and your heart. I can do it and I believe all women can do it,” added Madame Nga, the first Vietnamese female entrepreneur to receive the Woman of Impact Award at the 2020 Women Entrepreneurship Summit.

“At the 2020 summit, I was honoured to share with regional female entrepreneurs my story and I was very happy that the spirit was spread and recognised by participants at the event,” she said.

Although golf has traditionally been the domain of males, Madame Nga says she’s encouraged to see more playing and business opportunities for women in golf, with BRG Group leading the way.

She said: “At BRG Group, the number of women always makes up the majority in the team – not only in golf but also in many other businesses.

“Women always receive encouragement right from the recruitment stage. Also, female employees at BRG Group are always encouraged to affirm their capabilities in their work.

“Golf is a social sport, we can all play together anywhere, with any gender. Sports also need gender equality and need to take conditions and opportunities for passionate and capable female golfers to realise their aspirations, so that Vietnam’s golf industry can make new strides in the world’s golfing map.

“I am proud that the efforts of myself and the whole BRG Group have helped us to have a foothold in golf, not only in Vietnam but also in the region and wider world.”

Over the coming months, a broad spectrum of women who have stamped an indelible mark on sport – as competitors, leaders, pioneers and role models – will be featured in the AGIF’s Women in Sports series.
