Singapore: Respected golf industry stalwarts Mark Donohue, James Gordon and Henry Ng have joined the Asian Golf Industry Federation’s (AGIF) Board of Directors.

The trio were elected to the Board during the Federation’s annual general meeting, filling the positions vacated by Richard Walne, Henrik Friis and David Townend.

Donohue (Regional Manager for Southeast Asia, Rain Bird), Gordon (Regional Asia-Pacific Business Development Manager, Profile Products) and Ng (Regional Manager Asia, Sustane Natural Fertilizer) will serve two-year terms in office.

“We welcome Mark, James and Henry to the AGIF Board and look forward to their input over the next two years … and beyond,” said Chris Gray, the AGIF’s newly-elected President.

“The Asian Golf Industry Federation is fortunate to be able to call upon so many outstanding individuals who are widely respected within the golf industry. It is one of the factors that makes the AGIF such a unique organisation,” added Gray.

Donohue joined Rain Bird as a regional manager for Canada in 2016 before moving into a similar role in Southeast Asia last year.

While in Canada, Donohue served on the Boards of the Prairie Chapter of the Irrigation Association, the BC Landscape Association and the Irrigation Sector of Landscape Ontario.

“Each had its challenges, but all had the commonality of growing their membership through education and diversification. I see that same opportunity within the AGIF and am interested in expanding the membership beyond golf and into sports fields and stadium turf,” said Donohue.

Since moving to Asia 11 years ago, Gordon has managed multiple golf facilities, been involved in course construction and refurbishment and implemented strategic business models and the development of international health and safety policies.

He said: “I welcome the opportunity to join the Asian Golf Industry Federation’s Board of Directors and am committed to actively participating and making a positive contribution through strong communication and member focus, promoting AGIF activities, events and initiatives while ensuring transparency, relevance and progression.”

Former Assistant Director of Golf Course Maintenance at China’s Mission Hills Golf Resort, Ng is celebrating 25 years in the golf industry this year.

“With the strong foundation laid by the past and present Board and management, I’m confident the AGIF will continue making its presence felt in golf and the sports turf industry,” he said.
