Scottsdale, Arizona, United States: Troon has been selected to manage the Members Club golf facility and Ocean Club social facility at Grande Dunes, a master planned community in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Troon Privé, the private club operating division of Troon, will manage golf, club, food and beverage operations, golf course agronomy and membership marketing.
The Grande Dunes community, managed by Freehold Communities, stretches across 2,200 acres on the Atlantic Ocean and Intracoastal Waterway, and features 17 unique neighborhoods that offer residents an active lifestyle in addition to various homesite styles including villas, condominiums, and luxurious homes.
Grande Dunes residents can enjoy membership privileges at the Ocean Club, while golf memberships are available at the private Members Club with its exclusive par-71 golf course.
“We are excited to oversee two incredible facilities at Grande Dunes and pleased to be working with Freehold Communities again, as Troon also manages Freehold’s Club at Savannah Quarters in Georgia,” said Matt Hurley, Executive Vice President of Managed Properties East at Troon, an Executive Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
“Our Troon Privé team will look to further elevate the member experiences at the Members Club and the Ocean Club,” added Hurley.
The golf course at the Members Club was designed by Nick Price and Craig Schreiner, and offers a classic inland-style design with wide, generous-sized fairways.
In 2019, the 18-hole course underwent a renovation led by Schreiner that focused on bunker and drainage enhancements. In addition, the course transitioned from bentgrass to Ultradwarf Bermudagrass, a popular hybrid and more heat-tolerant grass species.
The Members Club’s 27,000 square foot, old-world Tuscan/Mediterranean-style clubhouse includes casual and fine dining rooms with views of lake waters, natural islands and the golf course’s ninth and 18th holes.
The Ocean Club is the social hub of Grande Dunes, providing members with private oceanfront access, a variety of dining experiences and entertainment opportunities.
With stunning unobstructed views of the Atlantic Ocean, the two-level, Mediterranean-style building features gathering and meeting spaces, as well as an outdoor terrace that overlooks the resort-style Grande Pool and private ocean access with exclusive cabanas and towel service available to members.
As a Troon Privé managed club, full Members Club members are automatically enrolled in the Troon Privé Privileges programme, which delivers golf and lifestyle benefits as well as reciprocal play at other Troon Privé-managed private clubs around the world.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have contracted Troon Privé to manage Grande Dunes Members Club and Ocean Club,” said Peter Kyte, Vice President – Southeast Region for Freehold Communities.
“The team at Troon Privé has a wealth of knowledge and experience that will undoubtedly bring an elevated experience for all members. From day one we have been thoroughly impressed with the entire Troon Privé team,” he added.
